Lab Week 3
Link to Geo Caching website
Geocaching is almost like a big game of hide and go seek, that people across the world are a part of. You use a GPS device and longitudes and latitudes to find a geocaching spot. This spot can be anything and found on the website. Geocaching places are found everywhere and anyone can start the game at any point in time. The requirement for the spot can vary, and what to find can also vary. An easy way to find out how to get started is to check out the website and find geocaching spots in your area. It's a lot of fun to make into a race as well, it's more challenging that way.
Geocaching is great for an environmental research project because it gets you more involved in community that you live in as well as the world. There are places that you could find and possibly want to help make better for future generations by discovering these places. People getting out into the world and looking for certain things in certain places is a fun time and gets them moving because while you may have to drive or fly to places, you do also have to walk, which means that the people are getting exercise and learning more about the environment. GPS and mapping help with people learning more about the world and in turn get them more interested in the world of environmental research projects.
